FMG was founded in 2012 by Devadas Krishnadas. Devadas leads FMG’s direction and vision, and acts as Lead Advisor for all advisory projects, and as Chief Strategist and Senior Lead Consultant for all consulting projects.

Devadas Krishnadas has more than 25 years of experience in the public and private sectors. His expertise lies in foresight, strategic planning, and public policy formulation, implementation and evaluation.

In leading Future-Moves Group (FMG) since 2012, Devadas has successfully delivered more than 300 complex, large-scale advisory, consultancy and training projects, both in Singapore and internationally (see FMG’s Work for more details).

Prior to founding FMG, Devadas played a leading role in developing Singapore’s fiscal and social policy, where he led efforts in long-term planning and strategic thinking. He served two and half years in the Singapore Infantry and ten years as a Senior Police Officer, including as Commanding Officer and a Head of Operations. He served for three years as Honorary Aide-de-Camp to the President of Singapore, the late President S.R. Nathan. He also served five years in public policy in multiple Ministries, including the Ministry of Finance.

At the Ministry of Home Affairs, he was involved in Counter-Terrorism both analytically and operationally. He was also a member of elite crisis management task forces. He oversaw all policies regarding the penal system and the anti-drug campaign. He was awarded multiple Ministerial awards and Medals of Service.

At the Ministry of Finance, Devadas was Deputy Director of Fiscal Policy and oversaw the Whole-of-Government Budget Planning and Procurement. He was also the founding Lead Foresight Strategist, founding Associate Fellow for the Centre for Strategic Futures (CSF) and Adjunct Lecturer on Foresight, Fiscal, Economic and Social Policy for the Civil Service College. He has been published in the Civil Service College Journal and the Officer’s Journal of the Singapore Armed Forces.

He gained international experience as the lead strategist for Singapore’s bid to become the first Asian chair of the International Monetary Financial Committee of the International Monetary Fund and represented Singapore at the United Nations Drug Control Programme.

Devadas was Head of Strategy at the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports where he oversaw the Research and Development Department. During his tenure the R&D department undertook a deep evidence based study through secondary research, global expert consultation and commissioning primary research through the departments of education and sociology at the National Institute of Education and the National University of Singapore.

Devadas is a graduate of the Oxford University Scenario Programme by University of Oxford, the General Management Programme by University of Cambridge, and he holds a Masters of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School, Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, and a Bachelors of Arts (Honours) from the University of Sydney, Australia.

Devadas is also an active thought-leader, public speaker and writer. He has authored eight books: Taken by Surprise: A Study of Intelligence Failures (2021), Decision: Second Front (2021), Confronting Covid-19: A Strategic Playbook for Leaders and Decision-Makers (2020), 25 Steps: A Journey into the Heart (2020), The Seduction of the Simple (2016), FUSE: Foresight-Driven Understanding, Strategy and Execution (2015), and Sensing Singapore: Reflections in a Time of Change (2014).
