Advanced - Predictive Analysis

Predictive analysis is about using available data to determine and forecast future results or actions by identifying trends and patterns, understanding the data relationships and building suitable models to assess different decision options. This is also an increasingly important skill in the public sector.

This course introduces you into the different predictive models and techniques to help you make reasonable predictions and forecasts about the future and in unknown circumstances. Through the case studies shared and the practical capstone exercise on Day 3, you will better understand the data modelling process and learn how to make connections with the data variables. You will then be ready to apply what you’ve learnt in real scenarios at work.

Topics Covered

  • Introduction to Predictive Analysis (PA)
  • Introduction to Programming Syntax
  • Regression-based PA
  • Time series-based PA
  • Classification & Clustering based PA
  • Association rule-based PA
  • Capstone Project

Who Should Attend

  • Officers with an interest to build on their fundamental data skills to explore and better understand how predictive analysis and modelling strengthens data analysis
  • Recommended Entry Requirements: A strong background in statistics, frequent use of data at work including data analysis, and a basic awareness of programming is highly recommended
